With the passing of 89-year-old Senator Frank Lautenberg, the state of New Jersey will hold a special election to elect a successor to the state’s late U.S. Senator.  Forty-four year old Newark, New Jersey Mayor Cory Booker announced on June 8th that he will throw his hat into the ring as a candidate for the vacant U.S. Senate seat.  The special election will be held later this year on October 16th.  Booker has already secured the endorsement of former Rhodes Scholar, former New Jersey U. S. Senator, and former New York Knickerbocker basketball great, Bill Bradley within the first 24 hours of Booker’s senatorial announcement.
