Tameka “Tiny” Harris  father, Charles Pope, passed away about 2 weeks ago at the age of 76.

Sister 2 Sister reached out to Tiny’s mother, Dianne Pope, to talk about the “gentleman” she loved dearly.

Dianne shared, “He was a sweet, gentle man…gentleman. He wore a suit every day of his life. Every day. Anybody could have came in this house and he was sitting there watching TV; he would have a suit on.”

Charles, was one of the founders of the ATL group The Tams. He gave up singing with the group in 2009 when he started to develop Alzheimer’s. Dianne told S2S, “He wasn’t forgetting the words to his songs. He was just forgetting to hold the mic up to his mouth but he was still singing!”

The family started “For The Love of Our Fathers,” a foundation in his honor. They are currently raising money for it with plans to hold a benefit fundraiser soon.

Dianne’s hope is that people will learn to be giving and that caregivers practice patient when caring for those with Alzheimer’s, like her husband. She said, “Anybody who has anybody that has Alzheimer’s, you need to be patient with them because they don’t know. They don’t know what they’re doing.
