Sperm Donor Must Pay Child Support

A Kansas judge ruled that a sperm donor, who responded to a lesbian couple’s online ad to father a child, is the biological father of the newborn baby and must pay child support.

Judge Mary Mattivi defended the ruling by stating:

 “because a licensed physician was not involved in the artificial insemination process, William Marotta is more than a sperm donor and thus responsible for the child.”

The sperm donor argued that he had no intention of being the child’s father and signed a contract waiving his paternal rights.
