Bill Cosby has resigned from his position on the school’s Board of Trustees at Temple University.
Cosby attended the school in the 60s and participated in football and track. According to the Associated Press, Cosby did not want to be a distraction as he continues to deal with multiple allegations of sexual assault.
Cosby said in a statement,“I have always been proud of my association with Temple University. I have always wanted to do what would be in the best interests of the university and its students. As a result, I have tendered my resignation from the Temple University Board of Trustees,”
Andrea Constand, who worked for Temple’s women’s basketball team, filed suit against Cosby in 2004, claiming he drugged and sexually assaulted her. Cosby settled the suit in 2006.
A scholarship was created in Cosby and his wife name since donating money to Temple.
