Sad news out of Northern California today – as we learn that Afeni Shakur has passed away. She was 69 years old.
Shakur, mother of the late rap legend Tupac Shakur, was the subject of one of his most iconic songs, Dear Mama
The Marin County California Sheriff’s confirmed her passing via twitter after responding to call for a possible cardiac arrest situation on the night of Monday May 2, 2016
Born Alice Faye Williams, Shakur was a member of the Black Panthers and arrested while pregnant with her son Tupac. She served as her own lawyer and was acquitted prior to his birth
