Manhunt continues for Joseph Couch, Kentucky man accused of I-75 shooting rampage
A very scary story. Authorities are searching for a man who is suspected of shooting at cars on Interstate 75. Already injuring five people. Authorities are searching for him in a wooded area near the highway. The search has been extensive, with helicopters, drones, and dogs being used. Additionally, Kentucky State Police, local deputies, the FBI, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives are all involved.
Authorities are combing the woods and say they aim to “apply steady pressure at wearing him down.” One Kentucky State Police Trooper said, “Hopefully he has no water and nothing to eat.” Adding that, “Hopefully, he will basically just walk out of the woods and give himself up.” They do have a huge are to search and say it’s like searching a “jungle” environment, using machetes to cut through vegetation.
In the meantime a very scary situation for residents in the area. Schools remain closed, and people are being warned to be on the lookout.
The alleged suspect is a former army reserve member and is facing serious charges. Including five counts of attempted murder and five counts of first-degree assault. He will likely face more charges for damage to other vehicles and running from authorities.
Officials are offering a $25,000 reward for information leading to the suspect’s arrest. And people are even People are donating money to help find him.
Hopefully, capturing him happens sooner than later without anyone else getting hurt.
