THE BUZZ!

Secret Service uniformed officer accidentally shoots himself while on duty

It’s no secret one division of the Federal law enforcement agency is not looking too good after some not so good responses to two recent assassination attempts on a former President. In both instances the Secret Service has drawn a lot of criticism for there reaction to those events.
And then there was this most recent incident, which doesn’t make them look any better. A U.S. Secret Service officer accidentally shot himself while on duty in Washington, D.C. Luckily for him the injuries weren’t life-threatening, and the officer is recovering in the hospital. There was also no report of anyone else being injured.

The USSS said the “negligent discharge” occurred in the northwest section of the city just before 8 p.m. The agent, who was on duty, was handling his service weapon when the firearm discharged.
The matter heads to the Secret Service’s Office of Professional Responsibility who will be reviewing the facts and circumstances of this incident.
An accident I’m sure but an embarrassing one and one that comes at a bad time for the rest of the team.
