Oprah Appointed CEO Of OWN Network

The former queen of daytime Oprah Winfrey is now a CEO. Oprah Winfrey, whose successful talk show ended in May after 25 years, was named on Wednesday the chief executive and chief creative officer of OWN, the cable network she launched with Discovery Communications earlier this year.

Winfrey posted a letter on Facebook today, explaining that Harpo Productions Inc. will join forces with OWN to run the network:

According to the NY Times, Peter Liguori, the chief operating officer for Discovery Communications, will take over the channel on an interim basis.
