Seriously!! After being criticized for racist remarks on white supremacist marchers in Charlottesville, now the Trump administration announces that it may renege on the Obama Administration plan plan to put American Shero Harriet Tubman on the 20 dollar bill. Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin said last week “it’s just not a priority.”
“People have been on the bills for a long period of time. And this is something we will consider. Right now, we’ve got a lot more important issues to focus on,” Mnuchin said last week.
Did he mean to say white people? Really son? The Trump polices continue to disproportionately impact people of color: a health care proposal that would have deprived 32 million people of health care disproportionately middle class, poor and people color; a tax plan that will benefit the top one percent of multimillionaires and billionaires and returning to mandatory minimums for minor nonviolent drug offenses that resulted in mass incarceration hitting young African Americans and Hispanics the hardest.
The Obama administration announced in April 2016 that Tubman would replace Andrew Jackson on one side of the $20 bill. An image of Jackson would still remain on the other side, according to the announcement.
